Happy Sunday! I hope all of my readers have a blessed and purposeful week. I’m back with another book review. I recently finished Cannery Row by John Steinbeck which was published in 1945. If you are interested in my thoughts about this book, then keep reading for all the deets.

Description: This book is set during the Great Depression in Monterey, California, on a street lined with sardine canneries that is known as Cannery Row. The main characters are Lee Chang-the local grocer, Doc-a marine biologist, and Mack-the leader of a group of boys.

Mack and his friends want to something nice for their friend Doc, who has always been good to them. Mack decides to throw a thank-you party and the entire community becomes involved. Unfortunately, the party gets out of control and Doc’s lab and home are ruined. In an attempt to get back in Doc’s good graces Mack and the boys decide to throw another party but make it work this time.

My Thoughts: I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I was pleased with the plot of this book. I was excited that this story took place in Monterey California because I am Cali girl and I do not live far from there. The characters were unique and fully developed. This is a quick read and if you love to read about a city and all the good and bad that goes along with it then I definitely recommend this book.
